Hey! I'm Jessica- founder of Three Sunflowers! I'm married to my best friend, who is the best supporter and hype-man! We have one super cute doggy, and three amazing kids.
Speaking of kids, back in 2018 I had our oldest daughter. I absolutely LOVED dressing her up in the cutest, comfiest clothes and accessories. I found several handmade shops that I adored and honestly, spent a good chunk of my paychecks with them. When they became so popular that they were hard to get or always sold out, I decided I should put my creative brain and attention-to-detail skills to good use and learn to sew myself!
So I "borrowed" $300 from our savings account, bought a decent sewing machine and started scrolling all the YouTube and Pinterest tutorials I could find. Man did I learn a lot, and those first dozen outfits were honestly, quite terrible! But I was determined to make something I could put my baby in and be proud of- and it worked! Soon people started telling me I should sell my items and they wanted to order, so I started Penelope & Co. Boutique (named after my oldest).
At the time I was working as a dental hygienist during the day, momming in the evenings, and sewing into late night every night. The orders kept coming, I upgraded my machines for even better quality, and was able to make my business my full time job!
Then Covid hit and I was pregnant with my twins. After having them, I wanted a fresh name and logo to honor them as well - so I rebranded to Three Sunflowers! Business was fun, but so hard with three littles under the age of three.
There were years with three kids under three and running on no sleep, that I almost gave up. Life got loud and I nearly closed up shop more than once. I scaled back instead of shutting down, because I couldn’t actually let it go.
Fast forward to 2026 - all three kids are in school full time now, and I’m ready to grow again. I still make every handmade piece myself, and I love it just as much as day one. I hold each piece to the same standard I started with - high quality, comfort, and style. I found a manufacturer who matches that standard, so I can grow and get our items on more littles without cutting corners.
At Three Sunflowers, we believe kids deserve clothes that are comfortable but actually survive real childhood: birthday parties, family photos where someone’s mid-meltdown, playground adventures.
